ZH Consulting was founded to provide essential tools for property owners, real estate professionals and design professionals to maximize property value. We understand that every property has both strong and weak attributes, and our role is to help you understand its full potential — whether you're planning an accessory dwelling unit, evaluating a vacant lot for development, or considering a significant renovation to your home.
Based in the San Francisco Bay Area, we bring deep local knowledge of zoning regulations, building requirements, and market conditions to every project. Our approach combines technical expertise with practical insight, ensuring our clients make informed decisions from day one.
Principal
Millard Arterberry
A graduate of UC Berkeley's College of Environmental Design, Millard Arterberry holds a BA in Architecture and brings over two decades of residential design and construction experience to every engagement. His career began with hands-on construction work before evolving through roles as a drafter, project manager, and chief designer at several respected residential design firms — giving him a rare perspective that spans the full lifecycle of a project.
In 2017, Millard founded his own design practice, Zen Harmony Design, focused on modern, sustainable custom homes. His portfolio spans high-end custom residences, multi-family housing, historic preservation, and affordable housing across California and beyond — from Marin County and Sonoma County to San Diego, Las Vegas, and Cabo San Lucas.
A LEED Accredited Professional and winner of the Creating Communities Sustainable Design Competition, Millard also served on the City of Sausalito Sustainability Commission. His approach is grounded in thorough analysis and clear communication — he believes that great projects begin with a deep understanding of the property, the regulations that govern it, and the goals of the people who will use it. Millard currently resides with his family in Santa Rosa, California.
